The designation dry drunk is believed to stem from Twelve Step recovery groups. It is used to characterize those who no longer drink alcohol but in several respects act as if they were still wallowing in dependency. The dry drunk might teem with resentment and be mad at the world. Instead of finding joy in their way of life away from alcohol, they may behave as if they are serving a jail sentence....
